Trade and investment flows between the United States and France support growth, jobs and innovation.

The United States and France traded over US$ 139 billion in goods and services in 2019, up 7.7% over a year and up 36% over ten years. Through their investment, French and American companies employ close to 1.3 million people on each other’s soil. French affiliated firms invest over $5.4 billion in R&D annually.

The U.S. is France’s #1 source of foreign R&D overall. Conversely, France is one of the top five leading foreign investors in greenfield projects (new establishment or expansion of activity) in more than half of the U.S. States.
